A program designed to teach youth with no horse experience about taking care of a farm and horses. We focus on encouraging community service, responsibility, accountability, leadership, compassionate care for animals and provide the opportunity to learn to ride.

Youth accepted into the program:

  • Learn every aspect of horse care including cleaning stalls, care and feeding, grooming, safe handling and riding (if interested).
  • Participate in Zephyr Farm public events and activities such as open houses, photo shoots, demonstrations, parades, and local shows.
  • The Youth program serves as the basis for training our young volunteers.  They are active members of the farm team.  They are involved in activities that assist others and offering unique "horse therapy" opportunities which may include regularly scheduled visits from local organizations or individual customized visits catering to the specific physical and emotional needs of the participant(s).
  • The program runs year round but focuses on summer break.  Youth come to the farm from 8am to 12:30pm.  Lunch is provided.
